Motors built for skateboards, not adapted to them
Most e-skate motors are hobby-industry parts strapped to longboard hangers. Radium motors are designed from the coils up for the loads a skateboard actually sees. Here's what that means in the metal.


Eskate-native design
When the Mach One was sketched in 2020, the standard industry practice was adapting RC-hobby outrunners — motors designed for planes and cars — to skateboard duty. They spin happily, but skateboard loads are different: constant shock loads through drivetrain, extreme vibration, heat soak on long climbs, and an operating in dust, rocks, and water.
Our 6485 platform was engineered around those realities: the shaft, bearings, mounting interface and cooling system are all skateboard decisions, not hobby-industry hand-me-downs. It's engineering other builders noticed — Radium motors have since turned up on some of the most respected boards in the industry.

The Mach One's twin 6485s
The Mach One runs twin 205kv Radium 6485 motors through a dual Vesc-based ESC and a belt drive. Belt drive is a deliberate choice, not a cost one: belts isolate motor and road shock from each other, gear the motor into its efficient range, and make ratio changes a 15 minute tuning job — 16/45T stock, with our published belt calculator covering the alternatives. Every wear part in the drivetrain is a genuine Radium spare.

F55 Darkstar: the next generation
The Mach One S launched the F55 Darkstar — externally the same 6485 footprint, internally a redesign. A 10% larger stator core, custom bevel-shaped magnets, a new shaft-mounting system, a unique bearing arrangement, a c-clip pulley mounting system and improved cooling. The result is more torque higher efficiency, and now 9000W capable per motor — running on the S's 18S high-voltage system at 6,000W and a 70kph top speed.

Built to be owned for years
Motors are covered by our 12-month warranty from the date of delivery, and beyond that they're built to be serviced rather than binned: replacement motors are stocked as standard parts, our published motor replacement guide walks you through the job, and the belt-drive layout means a motor swap doesn't disturb the rest of the drivetrain.
