Why the Mach One has real suspension
Most electric skateboards manage bumps with soft wheels and hope. We built swing-arm suspension instead — here's the engineering reasoning, and why it changes how a board rides.


The problem with rigid boards
A skateboard is a rigid platform on four small wheels. That's fine at pushing speeds, but an electric board cruises at speeds where every crack, stone and seam in the road arrives through your ankles. The industry's answer has been softer bushings and bigger wheels — damping, not suspension. Damping absorbs some shock; it doesn't keep the wheel on the ground.
That last part matters more than comfort. A wheel that skips off the road under power isn't gripping, and a wheel that isn't gripping isn't braking or steering either. At 40km/h, contact-patch consistency is a control problem, not a comfort feature.

What the swing-arm actually does
Each rear wheel on the Mach One rides on its own swing-arm — a pivoting arm with a tunable bushing stack that lets the wheel track the road surface independently of the deck. Hit a bump and the wheel moves; the deck, and you, largely don't. The motion is controlled by bushing compounds we've refined over years of field data, and it's adjustable: pre-load and bushing hardness are rider-tunable, and the design accepts aftermarket bushings like Riptide Rebound if you want to go further.
The result is a deck that stays level and planted while the wheels do the moving. Riders describe it as the board feeling 'longer' than it is — that's what happens when the platform stops transmitting every surface event to your feet.

Suspension needs the right trucks
Suspension only works as a system with the steering. The R6 trucks run split-angle geometry — a 30° rear for stability, a 60° front that does twice the steering work — on narrow 237mm hangars. An offset twin-kingpin bushing arrangement with hardened 11mm kingpins keeps the steering precise while the suspension moves underneath it. Six truck designs went into getting that combination right.

Tuning it to your riding
Rider weight and riding style change what a suspension should do. The Mach One ships with a bushing setup chosen for your weight at ordering, and the guides in our support section walk through adjusting pre-load and swapping compounds. It's a ten-minute job with basic tools — the same philosophy as the rest of the board: everything serviceable, everything tunable.
