Battery Care & Charging
How to charge, store and look after your board's battery — the habits that keep a pack healthy for years, and the mistakes that kill one in a season.
The golden rules
- Only use the Radium-supplied charger — never a third-party or "fast" charger.
- Never charge unattended, and never charge overnight while you sleep.
- Charge on a hard, non-flammable surface, away from anything that burns.
- Let the board cool down after a hard ride before plugging it in.
- Don't leave the board fully discharged for more than 2 weeks.
- Don't charge in freezing conditions — bring the board to room temperature first.

Charging
Plug the charger into the wall first, then into the board's charge port. Charge in a dry spot at room temperature and stay nearby until it's done. When you're back from a ride, give the pack 30–60 minutes to cool before charging — charging a hot battery accelerates wear.
You don't need to charge to 100% after every ride. Li-ion cells are happiest cycling in the middle of their range — a full charge before a big ride, a partial top-up otherwise, is the pattern that maximises pack life.
The Mach One runs a 12S6P pack of Molicel P42A cells with Bluetooth BMS access. Use the Radium app to keep an eye on charge level, cell balance and cell voltages — a healthy pack shows all cells within a few hundredths of a volt of each other.
Official Mach One S charge times and charger specification are being finalised and will be published in the Mach One S manual. The rules on this page apply in the meantime.

Storage
If the board is coming off the road for more than a couple of weeks, store it at 50–80% charge — not full, and definitely not flat. A pack left at 0% self-discharges below its recoverable voltage and can be permanently damaged; that's the one storage mistake you can't undo.
- Store indoors, cool and dry — out of direct sun, away from anything flammable.
- Top the pack back up to the 50–80% window every month or two during long storage.
- Don't leave the board on the charger as a storage method.
- Check charge level before the first ride back, and give it a full pre-ride inspection.
Battery life & range
All lithium-ion packs lose a little capacity with every charge cycle — gradual range loss over years of riding is normal wear, not a fault. The habits above (partial charges, cool charging, sensible storage) are what stretch a pack to its longest life.
Cold weather temporarily reduces range — the capacity comes back as the pack warms up. Headwinds, hills, rider weight and hard acceleration all pull range down too; quoted range figures are real-world but conditions matter.
Damage & safety
The pack or enclosure is swollen, punctured, leaking, unusually hot, or the board has taken a heavy impact directly to the enclosure. Power the board off, move it away from flammable material, and contact Radium Support before charging or riding again.
Water and batteries don't mix. Keep all enclosure bolts tight — loose bolts let water and dust reach the battery, where neither belongs. Never submerge the board or ride through standing water.
